Who are the most important writers in contemporary Italian? How do they write? How can we read and understand their language?
In this course we will analyze themes and linguistic styles to better understand Italian literature in the past 20 years by reading, experiencing, and dramatizing passages from novels by some of Italy’s most important authors such as, Alessandro Baricco, Niccolò Ammanniti, Stefano Benni, and Andrea Camilleri.
In order to participate in the course “The Contemporary Novel”, intermediate-advanced knowledge of the Italian language is required. The course lasts 5 days and calls for 3 hours of classroom lessons per day (total of 15 hours).
